daphne devine died with the room key
by Jack Mitchell

Runestone, volume 8

how do you stop
a dog from biting you on monday?
kill it on sunday.
how do you kill a dog on sunday?
in an alley. in the snow. in a fresh dress. all

of the above. she presents herself.
he brings her coffee. she presents
herself. he brings her
coffee. she presents
a thigh tattoo (never-before-seen)
in a gallery, and there are too many
hands asking for hands asking for hands
how do you stop

a wolf from biting you
on monday? feed it
on sunday. you can say- we can’t-
today is the day the dog bites;

he sings while he cooks breakfast,
crepi. crepi. crepi.
